A heated debate has raged since last few days whether Mahatma Gandhi’s spectacles, sandals and watch should be auctioned?
But why are we Indians so concerned anyway?
We don’t have his vision, so why care about his spectacles?
We don’t walk in his footsteps, so why should we bother about his sandals?
We are not punctual as Gandhi, so why should we be concerned about his watch?
Let a foreigner who cherishes these values own the items and keep them.
At least they will be better cared for. If the items are brought to India, they might lie in a vault gathering dust.
